I started painting with great trepidation almost a year ago. As part of my fine art education it is required that I fulfill three years of painting. Let it suffice to say that I’ve had a love/hate relationship with it and at times forego the paintbrush altogether and use my fingers (generally with greater success). My fellow classmates have heard me mutter more than once “good thing I’m not trying to make a living as a painter…”. But I will share a few of my better works just to show that through sheer will and determination “where there is a will, there is a way” (another favourite muttering…).
Assignment: work from an image of a historical painting with focus on flesh tones including the use of black. This is a replication in part of a painting by Edouard Manet, Berthe Morisot With a Bouquet of Violets, 1872.
